Coronavirus update in Montenegro
ON MAY 24, MONTENEGRO BECAME THE FIRST CORONAVIRUS-FREE COUNTRY IN EUROPE. After 42 days of COVID-19 free status, Montenegro has 7 active cases.
The first case of coronavirus infection in Montenegro, after a 42-day break, was recorded on June 14, and as the health authorities announced at the time, it was an imported case. The next day, another infected person was discovered (also an imported case), and the number of patients increased to seven newly discovered cases, since yesterday night, June 17.
The Institute of Public Health announced that 200 samples were analyzed, of which seven were positive for the coronavirus. As IPH Montenegro stated, four patients were registered in Podgorica and one each of the municipalities, Cetinje, Rozaje and Berane.
"Four new patients are contacts of a previously confirmed case, while three new patients are currently looking for the source of the infection," the Institute of Public Health announced on June 17.
Since the outbreak of coronavirus, Montenegro had 333 people infected. 7 patients are positive on coronavirus, 315 patients cured, 9 people passed away. The death rate of people infected in Montenegro remains the lowest in the region.
