1. Visit Pestingrad and see the most amazing view on the top of Kotor Bay
Kotor Bay is one of Montenegro's most popular tourist destinations, and it's easy to see why - it resembles a fjord, it is created out of 4 smaller bays and surrounded by dramatic mountains up to 1000 m high.
Most visitors see it from the shore or a boat, however, most of them miss the best view - Pestingrad, located on 998m above Kotor, featuring an absolutely incredible scenery which will make you think you entered a Lord of the rings movie or another planet.
2. Prokletije – Climb the peaks of Volusnica 1879 m, Talijanka 2056 m, Popadija 2057 m in one day
Prokletije is a stunning mountain range that forms the border between Montenegro and Albania. The meaning of the word Prokletije is "Accursed Mountains" - which gives you the idea of its harsh beauty. Prokletije resemble Italian Dolomites, but a lot of the range is still unexplored.
One of the easiest hiking tours is the one including the peaks of Volusnica 1879 m, Talijanka 2056 m and Popadija 2057 m. The canyon is an impressive 1,333 metres (4,373 feet) deep, making it the second deepest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon.
The best time to go is from June to September, when the water level is just right. If you like the adrenaline rush – try the river rafting in April or May. The scenery is incredible, and you will raft through rapids, calm sections and gorges, with amazing views all around.

9. Black Lake, Durmitor National Park
Black Lake is a little natural wonder, surrounded by dense forests, located in Montenegro's Durmitor National Park.
The lake is located just beneath Durmitor Mountain, and the views from the shore are simply breathtaking. If you are visiting in summer months, be sure to either take a swim in the refreshing waters, or go for an easy but gorgeous hike around the lake.
10. Nevidio Canyon
Nevidio canyon is last discovered canyon in Europe, located in Montenegro's Durmitor National Park. The name itself means Unseen, and it got its name since it was completely undiscovered until 1965. Nevidio is made by river Komarnica, and it is about 3.5 km long.
The canyon is home to some of the most dramatic scenery in the country, with cliffs going up to 450m high, leaving the width of 30 cm at some spots.
With numerous water cascades and sparkling rapids and the water temperature ranging from 5-10C it surely is one big adventure to pass through the canyon. However, be aware, after you take a first jump into the river, there is no going back.
11. Biogradska Gora National Park
Biogradska Gora is one of the most valuable National Parks in Europe. While Lovcen and Durmitor National Parks are mostly covered in harsh rocks and karst, Biogradka Gora Is lush, green area filled with lakes, green pastures, clear stream of rivers and ancient forests. Did you know that it's home to more than 80 tree species, the majority of which are fir trees that reach heights of 50 meters. The park is also home to 25 plant communities, many of which have species that are endemic to the area. The park is a haven for animal wildlife, with a variety of wildflowers and small and big game living there.
But that's not all. Biogradska Gora is also home to one of the last preserved primeval forests in the world. It's a place where you can find six glacial lakes, Biogradsko Lake at 1904m above sea level, being the most accessible and beautiful. Furthermore, it spans over 2 thousand meters in height, and it`s a great place for a day trip.
12. Cijevna Canyon
The Cijevna Canyon is a stunning natural wonder located in the southern part of Montenegro, near the city of Podgorica. It is a relatively small canyon compared to the Tara River Canyon, but it is no less impressive in terms of its beauty and geological features.
Itis approximately 25 kilometers long and up to 800 meters deep in some places. It was formed by the Cijevna River, which flows through the canyon and creates numerous waterfalls, pools, and rapids along the way. The river is also home to a number of rare fish species, including the endemic Montenegrin trout.
The Cijevna Canyon is known for its stunning natural scenery, with towering cliffs, deep gorges, and lush forests that provide a home for a wide range of flora and fauna. Visitors can enjoy hiking, rock climbing, and sightseeing, as well as swimming and fishing in the river.
One of the highlights of the Cijevna Canyon is the Grlo Sokolovo viewpoint, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire canyon and the surrounding landscape. The viewpoint can be accessed by a hiking trail that goes through Kucka Korita village and up to the top of the cliff.
