Montenegro proclaims the end of the coronavirus epidemic
Montenegro officially proclaimed the end of epidemic today, June 2, in step with guidelines set out by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Even though Montenegro is coronavirus-free and epidemic-free, some measures are still on.
"Wearing masks is mandatory in all European Union countries, as in our country. Whether it will remain so depends on the further course of the disease. We do not stop working in the field, we continue to sample according to indications as we did at the beginning of the disease." , said Senad Begic, the assistant director for medical and public health affairs in Montenegro.
How does a country certify it is free of coronavirus?
The WHO declares a country free of a virus when there hasn't been a confirmed case after an exact period of twice the maximum incubation time - which is the time of the first exposure to an infection and the onset of symptoms. In the case of COVID-19, the WHO has said the maximum incubation period is 14 days.
The safest activities in coronavirus pandemic are those that include the great outdoors. Montenegro is a land of many natural wonders, each as diverse as it gets.
